Eagle Rare

Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey

10 Years Old

Age: 10

Abv. 45% vol

Place of purchase: SuperAlko Latvia

Price: 32,99€

I spent my vacation week mostly in Estonia, but managed to squeeze in a hop in Latvia and more importantly in SuperAlko. They have a great selection of whisky and other spirits. I didn't have a specific plan entering the shop, but I had set a budget for myself. I only went 20€ over my budget so I think we can call this visit a success (just don't ask my wife's opinion about that). One of the finds were Eagle Rare 10 Years old for a very decent price.

Nose: Spicy dried fruits, vanilla and toffee.

Taste: Soft, rich and sweet (I always think of Hubba Bubba bubblegum, but with a twist. It's not exactly right, but closest I get). With time there is a hint of a pepper and some ryeness.

After: The after taste is dry. Can't really describe it any other way. Oak takes the dryness away when enought time is passed and there's a little bitter note in there. After taste is bit one-sided, but I like it, fits the nature of the whisky.

This whisky isn't offering great surprises. There's a nice spiciness to it and it's faithful to it's core essence. The dryness of the after taste is confusing, but fits to this whiskey. This is a perfect dram for those moments, where you just want to enjoy a quality dram and turn your brains to enjoy.

81/100
